New “Cyber Defence Complete” service aims to level the playing field against sophisticated cyber threats
European security specialist Ekco has unveiled a new comprehensive cybersecurity service specifically designed to protect small and medium-sized businesses from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
The announcement comes at a critical time for SMEs, with recent data showing that 58% of small businesses and 70% of medium-sized businesses experienced cyber breaches in 2024. More alarmingly, one in five SMEs reported that cyberattacks nearly destroyed their business entirely.
“Cyber Defence Complete” integrates essential security coverage from industry leaders including Microsoft, CrowdStrike, and Recorded Future into a single unified solution. The service is built on CREST-accredited methodologies and provides round-the-clock protection without requiring significant infrastructure changes.
“Small and medium-sized businesses face diverse cybersecurity challenges, and in today’s threat landscape, fast, decisive action is critical,” said Lee Driver, Director of Cybersecurity at Ekco. “This is why we’ve launched Cyber Defence Complete – a comprehensive solution that removes uncertainty and complexity from cybersecurity for SMEs.”
The new offering includes 24/7/365 Managed Extended Detection and Response (MXDR) monitoring, incident response capabilities, threat intelligence, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) services. It’s available in two tiers – Standard and Premium – allowing businesses to select protection levels that match their needs and budgets.
What This Means for UK SME Owners:
1. Access to Enterprise-Level Protection: UK SMEs can now access the same level of sophisticated cybersecurity previously available only to larger enterprises with dedicated security teams.
2. Reduced Risk and Business Continuity: With 20% of SMEs reporting that cyberattacks threatened their business viability, the comprehensive protection offered could be the difference between surviving an attack or facing potential closure.
3. Regulatory Compliance Support: As UK data protection and cybersecurity regulations continue to evolve post-Brexit, having robust security measures in place helps SMEs maintain compliance and avoid potential fines.
4. Cost-Effective Security Model: The tiered approach allows UK SMEs to access enterprise-grade security solutions without the significant expense of building in-house security operations centres.
6. Protection Against Growing Threats: UK small businesses remain prime targets for cybercriminals, with ransomware attacks and business email compromise schemes showing no signs of slowing down in 2025.
Ekco’s presence across the UK and Ireland positions it to provide localized support for British SMEs looking to strengthen their cybersecurity posture in an increasingly threatening digital landscape.
