The Kings Speech is scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, 17 July 2024) and while I am sure a myriad of “good intentions” will be tabled my interest is only really in the amendment or replacement of the Tories Online Security Act.
In its manifesto Labour pledged to “build on” the outgoing Governments OSA (Online Safety Act) but try as I may to get an clarifications on Sir Keir Starmer´s “build on” schedule nothing is forthcoming. However, I understand that an Artificial Intelligence Bill is expected to ban sexually explicit deepfakes, and introduce new rules for the “most powerful AI models”. There is also talk that a Cybersecurity Bill specifically designed to protect national infrastructure.
